About RTPS

Our Beginnings

It was the dawn of the new millenium when RTPS founders David Rourke and Duane Donnelly came to a sudden, clear realization.

After years working as advisors for some of the largest private and public consulting firms in Canada, the two veteran consultants recognized a massively underserved market for procurement services in Canada: small to medium-sized enterprises (SME). These organizations desparately needed expert guidance with their procurement initiatives, yet couldn't justify a dedicated, in-house procurement team.

This held especially true when it came to Not-For-Profit organizations - and the charitable community at large. Not only were these markets underserved, they existed in unchartered territory. No one working in the contemporary procurement arena was paying attention to the unique procurement needs of these organizations - no matter how big or small!

It's from this realization that Round Table Procurement Services was born.

Our Journey to Now

Every organization within the NFP and charitable communities is unique, and their procurement needs reflect that. Heavily scrutinized spending habits, governmental regulatory and compliance issues, internal resource constraints and precarious revenue streams are but a few of the hurdles faced by NFP and charities on a daily basis

Over the years, working closely with such a diverse group of organizations has taught us many valuable lessons; lessons that we apply to each new solution.

Some of the key pieces to a successful procurement solution include:

RTPS's approach to procurement for the NFP community is continually evolving. Our bespoke procurement solutions can help all NFP's overcome the challenges they face and implement sustainable, long-term solutions that fit perfectly with your companies culture.

It's our hope that every NFP and charitable institution across Canada may leverage our expertise and enjoy the high-impact outcomes our services can provide.

Our Approach to Not-for-profit Procurement

RTPS understanding client needs

Understanding our clients needs

We are here to help you sort out your particular procurement dilemna, no matter how big or small. We'll sit down with your team to determine exactly what you need, when you need it by and how you want to get it. From here we'll initiate a plan and apply the required due diligence to ensure you get exactly what you need, while reducing the risk associated with procuring in the nonprofit sector.

Strong client/vendor relationships

Developing strong vendor / client relationships

Over the last 20+ years, RTPS has developed strong relationships with many key suppliers and service providers across a vast array of spend categories. Relationships that are passed on to your organization. We have an intimate understanding of how each of their industries work and how to navigate through sometimes precarious waters.

RTPS awareness in an everchanging industry

Awareness of an ever-changing industry

Change is inevitable. It comes with growth, it comes with time. As a company of the new millenium, RTPS is aware of the changes that have influenced our industry over the years. We have incorporate many those advancements in our approach to procurement. We may have influenced a few ourselves. Our ability to think outside the box and adapt to the ever-changing challenges and realities of our industry allows us to offer your organization bespoke and sustainable procurement solutions that will take you well into the future.

Success Stories

What they're saying...

Meet The Team

David Rourke - Principle at RTPS

I am one of the co-founders and owners of RTPS. One of my primary responsibilities is to ensure we always meet the needs of our clients. Ultimately, my role is the same as the rest of our team: to show up everyday to do what our clients need to be done.
Truly, my favourite part of my job is helping organizations do great work. Duane and I started Round Table to help nonprofits deliver on their social missions - seeing that vision come to life has been incredibly rewarding.
When I’m not working, I try to spend as much time as possible with my family and friends. Cheering for my favourite sports teams also consumes more of my time than I’d like to admit.

Duane Donnelly - Principle at RTPS

I’m one of the co-founders and owners of Round Table (since way back in 2002!) I primarily manage partnerships, develop strategy and carry out procurement initiatives on behalf of clients. What I enjoy most about my job is delivering tangible results for clients. It’s very satisfying to help guide an organization through a complex procurement initiative that has a real impact on operations. We respect the fact that client staff have many other responsibilities so our approach is to facilitate our projects in such a way that we make the most effective use of their valuable time.
Outside of work I spend a lot of time co-managing a busy household, complete with three kids and a giant dog. I’m also kept busy organizing a gang of over-the-hill hockey players, reading for pleasure or (poorly) banging on an old guitar.

Jason Chin from RTPS

I am responsible for Round Table’s clients in Alberta. Whether it’s managing the RFP process or re-engineering processes and policies, I participate in the many facets of supply chain on a daily basis.
My favourite part of the job is using my skills to make a difference for nonprofit organizations. The thought that cost reductions through procurement initiatives lead to enhanced programming (instead of an executive buying another sports car) is what gets me up in the morning!
When I’m not at work, my life revolves around my children - watching, participating, and volunteering for any activities that they participate in. I also enjoy “paying it forward” in the community such as volunteering for Breakfast Clubs of Canada.

Scott Green from RTPS

In my current role as Procurement Associate with RTPS, I collaborate and work closely with a key Client assisting with the expansion, growth, and transition of their Child Care Centres. My primary focus is procurement and logistics of supplies, furniture, fixtures, and equipment each of the Childcare Centres requires to deliver a high level of service. What excites me in my role is the opportunity to use my years of experience in the “for profit” world to help make a difference and give back in an important not for profit area such as Child Care. My down time is centred around our children and grandchildren, and spending as much time as possible at our cottage on PEI.

Duane Madgett from RTPS

As a Procurement Associate with RTPS, my job is to act as a liaison between our clients and the vendors we support. The most rewarding part of my job is client satisfaction. It feels great to be able to help relieve some of their stress, either through helping them save money or by supporting their day-to-day procurement activities.
When I'm not working, my key pursuit (outside of all things family-related) is music! I enjoy playing drums, attending live performances and discovering new artists. Second to that would be the great outdoors. Biking, hiking and hockey.

Anita Nwokolo

As a Procurement Associate, I work closely with RTPS's not-for-profit client to develop and implement a comprehensive procurement strategy that drives efficiency and achieves desired outcomes. One of my core responsibilities is managing the day-to-day operations of the procurement function for the client, including the development and support of new supplier agreements, purchasing solutions, policies, and processes. The most fulfilling part of my job is leveraging my expertise to deliver results that support clients' missions and goals, driving cost savings and improving processes.
Outside of work, my life revolves around my beautiful family. Watching them grow is my greatest source of happiness. When I have the opportunity to take a break from family responsibilities, I indulge in my passion for traveling the world. Exploring new destinations, experiencing different cultures, and discovering the beauty and wonders our world has to offer.

Cynthia Perry from RTPS

I am responsible for coordinating and supporting new projects at Round Table. My primary focus is the Ontario Nonprofit Network Purchasing Program which helps non-profit organizations by offering pre-discounted, pre-negotiated rates from our preferred suppliers.
I really enjoy the interactions I have with our nonprofit and charity representatives. They are facing ever-increasing funding pressure so it feels great when I can help them find ways to save money.
When I’m not working, I like to stay informed about Canadian and world issues and I play a variety of sports. I also volunteer my time officiating sprint canoe kayak races for children, youth and adults

Paul Stanford from RTPS

As a Senior Consultant with RTPS my role is to support our clients by overseeing the RFP process in selecting vendors and managing relationships, as well as related day-to-day activities. Ensuring a high level of service is a big part of my role. My favourite part of my job is developing strong, healthy relationships. I take a great deal of satisfaction seeing the client’s needs being fulfilled.
When I’m not working, I try to spend time in the backcountry of our beautiful province as often as possible (while minimizing my encounters with bears and wolves, of course.) Composing music and spending time with my girlfriend and our dog are also top priority.

Paola Torres from RTPS

As a procurement associate with RTPS, I hold a variety of roles. One of my core responsibilties is the sourcing of suppliers and their services and ensuring they meet RTPS compliance requirements. I also work in conjunction with the team assisting and managing the business process associated with the RFQ, RFI and RFP process. My favourite part of my role is collaborating with and supporting our clients in their initiatives. I pride myself on completing projects in the most efficient and reliable manner possible, respecting budgets and timelines. I love to create new relationships and I tend to be warm with people and respectful in their ideas.
When I am not working, I cherish my new role as a mother, taking family walks in the forest with my husband or taking my son to the park - just the two of us! Soon I'll be introducing him to climbing. I also participate in an annual global community event “Pay it Forward”, helping distribute food in my community.

Gerry Whitaker from RTPS

I come to RTPS with over 20 years experience in procurement with the Province of Ontario, offering a deep knowledge of public sector procurement requirements. My background also includes consulting where I developed a strong acumen for client support and service. My procurement background also includes experience in the private sector, working in the Real Estate and Financial Services sectors in Procurement and Supply Chain Management.
My main hobby is travelling. I have been to most South East Asian countries and China many times. I look forward to seeing more of Europe. I also enjoy cooking and playing golf, watching hockey, baseball and football.
